I have been doing daycare since 1982 and enjoying every minute of it. Personally, I love to care for children and believe that all children deserve an equal chance to prove their abilities and should be respected as individuals. Children should have someone that will not only teach and talk to them, but show them love as well. Each child deserves individual attention and patience. I will make each child's experience under my care both a memorable and a positive one.

I believe that children also learn through play and hands-on experience. Children should be allowed to "get messy" in their play.
Children, when provided with a variety of age-appropriate choices, will learn through discovery, inventing and experimenting within an enriched environment.  Through play there is no need to produce a specific product, and no right or wrong answers. A child's ability to pretend in play is a way of enlarging his or her view of the world. It is a step toward literacy, and play often reflects the creative inner self.

Children need creative environments where fun, laughter and playfulness as well as learning occupy their waking hours. They should not be rushed through childhood but allowed to develop at their own pace and have fun while doing this. These carefree years are too short, and soon the children will be exposed to a much more structured form of learning.

How then do I encourage a child's love of learning? I try to make learning fun by grasping their imagination and attention. Each month I try to introduce several new themes. These selected themes have a young child's interest in mind.

During the day, many activities are offered which help to promote basic cognitive skills (letter & number recognition, color & shape recognition, gross and fine motor skills and much more). My continual goal is to use as many of these activities as possible centering on the daily or weekly theme.

I continually meet and exceed all that is required of me by way of taking the mandated number of classes and credits to maintain my business license through The Board of Education. But I feel that the minimal requirement is insufficient in staying abreast of the ever changing field of Early Childhood Education and Care. Because of this, I have earned the Certificate of Achievement of the Maryland Child Care Credential – Level Four Plus. In addition to this I've also received my certificate for completing the Accreditation Process by attaining the highest standard of quality for the family child care profession.  With in-home childcare being focused as a one on one avenue of care, it is important to me to strive to excel in the personal areas of my life. For this reason, I also take additional classes to enhance my skills as a mother, hopefully one day a Grandmother, and a professional day care provider.

Here at my home, your child will not be "At the baby-sitter's". I will provide a home like environment with carefully developed learning activities. You can expect your child to enjoy their time spent here. Not only will they have their basic needs met, but they will also learn through play and encouragement to develop social skills. You can expect a safe, supervised environment with many hours of fun and learning. I keep an open communication policy between the parent and myself. I will be available by phone for immediate problems and by e-mail for general questions. Email questions will be responded to within 24 hours. I want my parents to feel welcomed and appreciated, and am always open to and request any suggestions. After all communication is a very important part of this business. If there are any problems or concerns I encourage you to talk to me about it first, after daycare hours or weekends when I can give you my full attention.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your child.
